But then it takes cargo space to and from the track. Add that to tires, tools, airtank, and maybe seats...way too much, and the diffuser will be a very fragile item riding with all that metal. Well, you are the one that has seen the prototype in person and on a car, so you know how much clearance there is. I had envisioned 2-piece vanes like: ================================== *-* *-* * * *** * retracted * *** * * * * ================================ * * * *** extended *-* *-* * * * *** * * *
...where the "-" are bolts, and you are looking at the vanes from the back of the car. The vanes have double length when they are unbolted from the first position and rebolted in the second position. With this, you could bolt the diffusor on the night before the track day, drive there, then only change the vane positions at the track. (Or, just leave the diffusor on all the time with the vanes in the retracted position.)
